About the project
Choosing where to open a coffee shop, food truck, or boutique is usually a gut call, and the data that could replace that guesswork (SafeGraph, Placer.ai, Esri) sits behind enterprise sales contracts most small business owners will never access.
Hyperlocal makes that same kind of signal free and immediate, for any city. It scores zip codes by business type using real Census ACS demographics, competitor density scraped from Google Maps, and foot-traffic data from Google's Popular Times, information Google's own API doesn't expose, only available via a third-party scraper. Each zip gets a weighted score (40% demand, 30% competition, 30% traffic) plus a plain-English, AI-generated explanation of why it ranks where it does.
For this build, we proved the pipeline on 17 central Austin zip codes across three business types, but the approach is city-agnostic: point it at Census and Google Maps data for anywhere, and it scores that market the same way. Next: Austin permit data, per-type weight tuning, and expanding beyond the demo city.
