Analog Archive

Analog Archive is a digital archive for analog photography that preserves not only the photograph, but the process that produced it.

Instead of treating a scanned negative or photograph as an isolated image file, Analog Archive connects the entire provenance of a roll: film stock and identity, frames, manufacturer development references, the photographer’s actual development process, darkroom timing, and handwritten notes.

The key distinction is between reference and reality. A manufacturer’s development recipe remains an immutable starting point, while the photographer can record what they actually did — including their own development time and agitation process. The darkroom timer then runs from that saved personal record, while the original handwritten note remains preserved as an archival artifact.

The result is an archive that captures not just what the photograph looks like, but how it came to exist.
